Andrew Smith With over 250 grappling competition wins, Andrew has racked up an impressive list of titles, including a 2008 Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championship Gold medal (silver in 2003 and bronze in 2004), 5 Virginia state judo championship wins, and several super fight titles, and he has learned through "trials by fire" what works and what doesn't in competition. Andrew has evolved into one of the most active Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and submission-grappling competitor/coaches in the country. After wrestling in high school, Andrew started doing judo at the Judo Club at VCU in January of 1997. Nine years later, Andrew got his black belt in judo.

When the Richmond BJJ Academy opened up on January 2nd, 2002, Andrew started training formally in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, earning his Blue and Purple Belts, and most recently, his Brown Belt from Eric Burdo and Julio Fernandez in February of 2006.

Andrew has traveled to Brazil twice to train jiu-jitsu and is consistently visiting schools all over North America.

Andrew has also been featured on OnTheMat.com's 101 Submissions -Volume 3 DVD.

Eric Burdo Eric started his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) training at the beginning of 1998, training in Burlington, Vermont with his teacher and mentor, Julio 'Foca' Fernandez.

Eric recieved his Black Belt from Mr. Fernandez on October 13th, 2007 and is currently the only BJJ Revolution Team Black Belt in Virginia!

Eric's teaching style is one that stresses technique through detail, and drilling until the technique becomes muscle memory. Eric works hard to foster an open and positive learning enviroment through encouragement and support, not criticism. You will always find Eric on the mat, working hard with his students, and drilling side by side with them.

Trey Martin started Wrestling in 1980 at age 6, in Pee-Wee Wrestling. He continued to Wrestle all through his Middle School years (Tuckahoe Middle School), and his High School years (Freeman High School). He is currently the Assistant Wrestling Coach at Godwin High School (since the 2004-2005 school year) and teaches a Wrestling Takedowns class at Richmond BJJ.

Trey started his formal training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the end of 1997, and has trained directly under Eric Burdo since the beginning of 2002. Trey received his Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on February 22nd, 2003, and then his Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in February of 2006 from Eric Burdo, and Julio Fernandez. He is also an assistant instructor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Trey’s teaching style is very detail oriented, and he makes sure each and every student training with him understands the techniques and concepts he teaches.

Rebekah Carrow has been studying martial arts since age 8, and is a black belt in Okinawan Kempo and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Rebekah is certified in women-specific self-defense systems and is employed by the Safe Harbor Domestic Abuse Shelter.

Rebekah has a thorough understanding of the techniques involved in the women's self-defense class including verbal and psychological techniques.
